What could have been.
I thought I would write out some of my thoughts about my development process before I forget them.
I was originally working on two separate concepts before I made the final game.
The first one was going to be a game about a power ranger who comes out as trans. Afterwards something was going to happen to their squad (I never figured it out) and they ended up having to work with a team of magical girls. It would’ve contained gender choice but would’ve had awkwardness of gender in integrating with magical girls and gender roles and feeling weird about being a power ranger.
The next game was going to be about being mental ill and going through their life where different points would have led to different outcomes. Players could ultimately decide to if they felt their life was worth living or not. Eventually it would’ve ended up in a ghost world where you could meet different potential lives and worlds. The game was too traumatic to write and a little too close to home so I decided to go for something smaller and simpler.
The final game that ended up being created was going to have three characters for the psychologist to interview. They were going to have an ABC name order and then have friends in a DEF order. Unfortunately it wasn’t feasible for me to finish in time so I settled for something simpler that clearly explained the concept. I lost the art for one of the patients but they were a sylveon ginjaka and nonbinary.
I uploaded the magical girl game already but I’ve decided to keep the other one private as it is a little too personal to share. I might reopen the concepts or stories for another game eventually.
Also originally Arle was going to have a pet chicken and be obnoxiously obsessed with anime.
(I mean she did name herself after an anime character.)
That’s all I can think of for now. I should’ve written this sooner.
